Ssangyong Engineering employee wins award from Labor Minister

On July 8, Lee Ho-cheol, an assistant manager of Ssangyong Engineering and Construction Co., won an award from the Ministry of Labor for his work to prevent industrial accidents. Lee was selected on June 29 by the ministry as a man of merit for the prevention of industrial accidents during the Week for Industrial Safety and Health.

Lee, who worked at a construction site to build the Ssangyong Yega apartment at Wolbae area in the city of Daegu, was credited with his role that helped the site report no industrial accidents for one million hours on Nov. 17 last month. In addition, Lee played a leading role for other construction sites in the area to prevent possible industrial accidents by regularly holding safety education sessions twice a month.

What’s more, Lee has set up a voluntary safety management system named “Three-ful Safety” since December 2005 and made efforts to get a certification for an occupational safety and health management system “KOSHA 18001,” which is up for review at the moment.

Meanwhile, during the Week for Industrial Safety and Health, a total of 87 people were honored for their work to improve working conditions and prevent industrial accidents, including three Medals of Industry, eight awards from the President, 10 awards from the Prime Minister and 63 awards from the Labor Minister.
