Ssangyong Engineering wins top awards for Yega Classic apartments

2007-12-11

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co. won the 2007 Green Living Culture Grand Award from the Herald Business newspaper and the best prize of the Third Korea Architecture Awards, presented by the Maeil Business newspaper, for its Yega Classic apartments.

The Yega Classic in Seoul’s Bangbae-dong was a remodeling project of three apartments with 216 homes. With the project, Ssangyong Engineering was recognized for opening a new era of such remodeling projects as it successfully completed the project by building underground parking areas and linking elevators, while leaving the existing structure unchanged.

In addition, the revamped apartments show a sense of post-modern classical features as lower parts blended with classic designs. Middle parts were featured with modern designs and upper parts were finished with classic moldings. With a variety of convenient facilities such as a fitness center, library, resident conference room and per-home locker room with natural light, the project also gained recognition from residents.

In particular, the Grand Award by the Herald Business newspaper was meaningful because the Yega Classic won the award by beating new apartments.

The award by the Maeil Business newspaper followed last year’s award in the field of construction and reflected Ssangyong Engineering’s technical competitiveness in home remodeling projects.

Meanwhile, as Ssangyong Engineering earned the two prestigious awards, they upgraded the company’s reputation as a leader in remodeling projects and is expected to pose a positive effect for the company to win new orders.
