SsangYong E&C has won the New Excellent Product certificate from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy with a new sound insulation material it developed for apartments, which drastically reduces sound dispersion between floors, while cutting heating costs.

The NEP program, which was introduced by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in January 2006, designates products with huge economic and technological impact among products developed in Korea for the first time in the world, and certifies their excellence.

Sound Zero Plus, which had been developed by SsangYong, was registered as New Construction Technology No. 472 by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation last year and thus was proven to be “a technology for quietest apartments” for the first time among sound-insulation materials. Having earned the NEP-MOCIE-2006-078 certificate, the product has now been verified once again to be the best noise insulation material in the country.

The product consists primarily of foamed EVA (a copolymer made of Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate copolymer, ethylene, and acetate) with superb absorption capacity, and a bio stone. It was verified to be the First Grade in blocking light knocking sounds in a test conducted by the Korea Institute of Construction Technology, as it drastically reduces sound dispersion between floors in apartment buildings.

The product has superb capacity in preventing sound dispersion, as sound, which is suppressed initially on the surface, is further reduced while passing through three vaporized layers with different density, including the first layer consisting of bio stone, the second made up of EVA, and the third comprised of concrete slab and bumps.

Also, since the product comes with rigid polyurethane forms with high heat insulation capacity, it is found to be much more effective in cutting heating costs compared with existing flooring materials.

Meanwhile, SsangYong has installed the product for the first time at SsangYong Yega in Dongtan New Town, which will be completed in September 2007. The Company will also use the product at SsangYong Yega in Geumho-dong, Gwangju, and Namsan Platinum in Seoul, which will be offered for sale to the public in 2006.
