Ssangyong E&C wins project to construct Chojeong-Hwamyeong (Hwamyeong Grand Bridge) road

2007-01-26

A consortium including Ssangyong E&C won a project on January 26 to construct a road linking Chojeong and Hwamyeong (Hwamyeong Grand Bridge) for KRW 72.3 billion ( Ssangyong holding a 20-percent stake, or KRW 14.6 billion). The project is hosted by the Public Supply Administration,

The project involves construction of a bridge with four to six lanes extending 1,039 meters, including a 500 meter-long a cable-stayed girder bridge section in the middle. The bridge will interlink a riverbed area along the Nakdong River around Hwamyeong-dong Station in Busan with Chojeong junction on Joongang Expressway at Chojeong-ril, Daedong-myeon, Gimhae. A cable-stayed girder bridge, for which the main powers and bridging section are slantingly connected, is the largest among all types of bridges along with a suspension bridge, and is the most difficult to construct. A cable-stayed bridge 100 meter-long or longer is classified as an A-class bridge.

With the Hwamyeong Grand Bridge project, Ssangyong E&C has secured yet another project to build an A-class cable-stayed girdle bridge in only one month after it won the project to construct an entrance road (section one) to Yeosu National Industrial Complex. The Hwamyeong project is scheduled to take 1,460 days to complete after groundbreaking.
