2008-03-06

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co. won a 72.7 billion won (US$72 million) order on March 6 from the Public Procurement Service to build a new hospital at Seoul Medical Center.

The contract calls for Ssangyong Engineering to build the 92,884-square-meter hospital with 620 beds on a plot of land in Shinnae-dong, Jungrang district in Seoul. Construction of the 13-story building will take 29 months.

This is the first time Ssangyong Engineering has won an order from the public sector. The order is also expected to help Ssangyong Engineering raise its competitiveness and profile because the bidding was the first of this kind, picking a builder on lowest price.
