2007-11-30

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co. held it’s annual meeting with its subcontractors on Nov. 30 in the Lotte Hotel in Seoul.

At the meeting, the organization called “Yonggeonhoe” was restructured to four subcommittees from seven and named new heads. The new heads are: Jeong Tae-geon, president of Changhwa Easytech (Chairman), Pyeon Young-beom, president of Sanseong Development (head of subcommittee for coexistence and cooperation), Jeong Soo-ho, president of Joongdong Construction (head of subcommittee for safety and public health), Kim Kwang-mun, president of Mikwang E&C (head of subcommittee for quality and environment) and Shin Bak-mun, president of Seyeok Industrial (head of subcommittee for technology cooperation).
In addition, Ssangyong Engineering awarded plaques of appreciation to outgoing heads of the organization and explained about financial support for the subcontractors.

Kim Byeong-ho, Chief Executive Officer of Ssangyong Engineering said, “We will expand institutional supports for the Yonggeonhoe.” “Let’s grow together by overcoming the difficult construction economy through coexistence and cooperation,” Kim said.

In November 1990, Ssangyong Engineering formed the Yonggeonhoe and has allowed subcontractors to exchange technology with foreign builders.

What’s more, Ssangyong Engineering has showed its management philosophy of coexistence by encouraging the subcontractors to voluntarily conduct safety control and worksite management.

To harness the subcontractors, Ssangyong Engineering plans to cut the number of its subcontractors by 10 percent to 354 from some 400. Of those, the 52 best subcontractors are members of the Yonggeonhoe.
