SsangYong wins a turn-key project for phase one reconstruction of sewage pipelines in Suwon

2006-12-01

As of Dec.1, 2006, a consortium led by SsangYong E&C won a project for the reconstruction of sewage pipelines (phase 1) in Suwon, an order that was placed by the Public Procurement Service, for 62 billion won (SsanYong holding 40 percent stake, or KRW 24.8 billion)

SsangYong formed the consortium with builders based in local areas, which defeated large construction companies that have been prevailing in the market for turn-key projects for environment facility construction, and thus reaffirmed its solid position in this area.

The project entails reparation and expansion of preexisting sewage pipelines and facilities to process sewage amounting to 142 cubic km per day, which is produced in Songjuk, Maesan, Paldal, and Maetan, Suwon. It involves the installation of pipes (1,180 meters), expansion (47,210 meters), reparation (8,995 meters), and improvement and reparation of ducts (360 meters). The project will take 36 months to complete, from the date of groundbreaking.
