- Ssangyong E&C employees made kimchi for the socially disadvantaged
Ssangyong E&C employees visited the Wonju Catholic Social Welfare Center located in Bongsan-dong, Wonju, Kangwon Province, on November 11 to make Kimchi for the coming winter for the socially disadvantaged.

They made 2,000 heads of kimchi after starting the voluntary work at nine in the morning and gave them to more than 20 senior citizens living alone. At lunchtime, they delivered a meal to each of the 150 people including the elderly residents living at the center and other facilities near-by.

Jung-hun Han, one of the volunteers who joined the company this year, said, “This is the third time I’ve done voluntary work after I did the Habitat and clothing donation event since I joined this company eight months ago.” He added, “I will continue to participate actively and if there’s anything like a volunteer competition, then I would like to try it.”

An official of Ssangyong E&C said, “Employees, mainly people from a club and the newsletter, have participated in this kind of voluntary event every year since 2003. We are planning to develop various programs to encourage all employees to do the voluntary work at least once a year.”

Ssangyong E&C granted financial support for education and donated clothing to social welfare facilities including the Wonju Catholic Social Welfare Center, Beautiful Store (Korean version of Oxfam), and the Anna House of Seungnam (shelter for teenagers) this year.
