2nd Ssangyong Yega Artist Contest Held … Out of 753 Works Submitted, 31 Works Won Awards

5 Award-winning Works in the First Contest were Applied to Yega… This year’s Prizewinning Works will be Applied to Apartment Complex

Ssangyong E&C (Kim, S. Joon, Chairman & CEO) announced that The “Floor Fountain Structure” by Jae-hwa Ryu and “The Space Between life and nature” by Soo-yeon Han and Won-kyung Do (Dongyang Mirae University) won the best award in the professional artist and students’ fields respectively.
During the contest held under the theme of “artistic apartment made by me”, Ssangyong Yega”, a total of 753 artistic works participated including 156 works in the professional artist and 597 in the students’ fields respectively. Out of the total works submitted, 31 won awards.
The “Floor Fountain Structure” by Jae-hwa Ryu is based on the motif of straws and bottles. The “Floor Fountain Structure” was designed to have a water spraying function for the hot summer and to stimulate the innocence of childhood.
In addition, “The Space Between life and nature” by Soo-yeon Han and Won-kyung Do has set itself apart from the typical appearance of an apartment by planting trees and differentiating the elevation of each floor. This unique design received a high score.

Now in its second year, the “Ssangyong Yega Artist Contest” has been held once since 2008 in order to get creative ideas to be applied to Yega from new artists and students.
This year, the scope of participants is expanded to include not only professional architectural designs, but also university students majoring in architecture, landscaping, and design.

Director Yoon-sup, Park of the Architecture and Engineering department of Ssangyong E&C said “the number works submitted is four times higher than that of the first contest thanks to the elevated interest of the would-be architectures”. “We plan to fully utilize the prizewinning works for intended future complex sales”, he added.

In the meantime, 5 works including “filling, binding and widening”, which won the best award in the first contest in 2008, will be applied to Ssangyong Yega Namyangju. Ssangyong Yega Namyangju was sold in lots last year.

The review result is currently posted on the Ssangyong Yega webpage (www.ssyapt.com) and the prizewinning works are displayed at Ssangyong Urban Regeneration Gallery located at Bangi-dong, Songpa-gi, and Seoul from Nov. 4 (Thur.) to Nov. 26 (Fri.).
