New Year Countdown at Marina Bay

The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown festival was held in front of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel construction site on the last day of 2009.
The New Year eve celebration is held every year at the Marina Bay area, where the Singapore River starts. Singaporeans join the event to greet the New Year and make wishes as they believe that the river is the source of life.
The festival, which is being established as a tradition beyond an one-time event in Singapore, was especially special as it was held in front of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel being built by Ssanyong Construction and Engineering.
Scheduled to be completed in early 2010, the marina bay sands hotel is the main project of the marian bay sands resorts and Singapore is pushing it as a government project. It is the largest single overseas construction project worth USD 686 million Korean companies have ever won.
