The Chairman&CEO of Ssangyong E&C, S.Joon Kim Greets the New Year away from Home

2009-12-31

The Chairman&CEO of Ssangyong Engineering and Construction, S.Joon Kim, greeted the New Year with Ssangyong workers in the Ssangyong construction fields in India and Pakistan. Kim is well known for his year-end celebrations, with Ssangyong workers and their families, away from home every year.
Kim visited the highway construction field in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India, on December 29 and the Harbor construction site in Karachi, Pakistan, on Jan. 2, before returning home on Jan. 3.
Kim had an arduous journey to the Ssangyong construction sites that takes over 40 hours, including 28 hours of flying and 12 hours of driving.
A staffer with Ssangyong Construction and Engineering said that Kim visited Ssangyong employees working in remote areas by rather unfavorable means of transportation, such as propeller-driven light plane and RV-like Jeep, as well as a flight in an economy seat, adding that Kim’s annual visit to foreign construction sites reflects his long held motto that nothing is more important than spending the year-end holiday season with overseas Ssangyong workers.
Kim had to transfer from one flight to another five times a day for his visit to the plant construction site in Iran in 1992. He also made a 3-nation whistlestop tour to visit 10 construction sites in 72 hours, including 54 hours of flying and driving, during the Korean Thanksgiving holidays in 1986.
