Ssangyong receives Asian Construction Grand Prize

The Company received the 2008 Asian Construction Grand Prize for its Singapore Marina Bay Sands Hotel Project at a ceremony held at the CCMM Building in Yeouido, Seoul on October 29. Established three years ago, the annual event is hosted by The Asia Business Daily and sponsored by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, the Construction Association of Korea (CAK) and Korea Housing Association. 49 construction companies submitted a total of 100-plus items, showing fierce competition, in 16 sectors.
The prize-winning project is for the construction of three 57-story hotel buildings with a total of 2,511 guestrooms. It is the largest one among architectural projects carried out by Korean construction companies outside of the country. Commenting on the news, the Company President Kim Byung-ho said, “The exploit is attributable to employees’ hard work, earnestness and sheer technological prowess.”
