Chairman S. Joon Kim, donates the first “Chairman”limousine owned for 18 years to Ssangyong Motor(Dong-A Daily, September 1st)

Joon Kim has donated the first “Chairman”limousine to Ssangyong Motor on August 31st.The “Chairman” which Kim donated was released as the first limousine model in September, 1997 the model was made through the technical cooperation between Ssangyong Motor and Mercedes Benz of Germany. The vehicle was owned by Chairman Kim, ran 330,000 kilometers for about 18 years and came back to Ssangyong Motors.It is very uncommon for a CEO of large company to use only one vehicle for 18 years. Chairman Kim said, “I know how much efforts were put into the vehicle, and there was no reason to change the car especially when the performance was magnificent with no malfunction or failure”. He also added, “I have mixed feeling as I let this vehicle gofrom development stage of the model when I was a CEO of the Ssangyong Group and Ssangyong Motor, it has been through all the years of good and bad memories’’.“I hope my donation will be the point that Ssangyong Motor will grow further to compete with the top companies by branding its SUVs and limousine lines well”Chairman Kim will buy a “Chairman W”, the new model, to keep his bond with the model.The donation ceremony took place at the Ssangyong MotorSeoul office, and the donated vehicle will be exhibited at the lobby of Ssangyong Motor’s head office in Pyeongtaek, Korea.
