Ssangyong E&C and KT to Install Fine Dust Monitor in New Complex

2020-03-17

Ssangyong E&C announced on May 17 that, for the first time in the construction industry and under a partnership with Korea Telecom (KT), the company would provide an IoT air map service within the upcoming Ssangyong The Platinum Haeundae apartment complex.

As part of the service, a fine dust monitor installed at the entrance of the complex will measure the site’s fine dust level in real time, and the measured levels will be displayed using a fine dust level indicator light, which will display one of four possible levels (Good, Moderate, Unhealthy and Very Unhealthy) as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO). The information will help residents manage their respiratory health, by helping them decide whether it is safe for them (or for their children) to venture outdoors.

At the same time, the company will provide, through a smartphone app, diverse fine dust monitoring data (e.g. real-time, regional and hourly statistics) collected from some 400 national air quality monitoring stations and some 2,000 KT stations (set up in public phone booths and public venues).

“We have decided to introduce this fine dust monitoring system within our new complex, to help our residents improve their respiratory health by offering information on fine dust levels measured directly within the complex. This system is the first such attempt in the construction industry,” Ssangyong E&C’s Chief Executive of Construction Technology Ju Seong Jo said. “We are also planning to actively apply our fine dust monitoring system in other new complexes from this point forward.”
