The Dubai office and major project sites are on Kim’s list of destinations during a visit intended to ensure smooth site operations and to express gratitude.

This coming Chuseok, Korean Thanksgiving, Ssangyong E&C Chairman & CEO S. Joon Kim will fly to Dubai for a tour of the company’s office and active project sites, according to company sources. Chairman Kim is known to spend his holidays with his employees working at overseas sites.

Mr. Kim will fly out on September 23, and the next day - on Chuseok - he will hold a joint ancestral memorial ceremony with his employees stationed in Dubai. He will also share food prepared for the ritual, and comfort employees who might be feeling home sick during the holiday. His next destinations are the Royal Atlantis Resort and ICD Brookfield Place project sites, where he will address pending issues and key processes and spend time with workers who cannot return home for the holiday.

An “impromptu” dinner will also likely be arranged for executives and employees based in Dubai for more intimate, face-to-face interactions.
Since becoming CEO of Ssangyong E&C in 1983, Mr. Kim has made it a rule to travel to overseas -and sometimes remote - project sites for traditional holidays as well as for year-end and New Year festivities. He remains true to his belief that “nothing matters more than being with my employees toiling on foreign soil over the holidays.” He has visited employees in countries such as India, Pakistan, Iraq, and Equatorial Guinea.
