New employees of SsangYong E&C pledge to become professionals who have a warm heart and a sharing mind.

The newly recruited employees of SsangYong E&C(CEO & Chairman Kim S. Joon) that are to join the company in the first half of 2012 held an event at Everland, an amusement park located in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do for the handicapped living in Hansarang Maeul in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, a rehabilitation facility operated by the Green Umbrella Child Fund Korea.
Together with the 11 handicapped persons with cerebral palsy and mental disability, the new employees enjoyed rides, went to a safari, saw a musical featuring various animals at the amusement park. Especially, the employees worked as volunteers by carrying those that had trouble walking and by helping them with their meals.
Kim, Gyeongsuk, aged 28, participated in the event as a new employee of the company and said, “Spending time with the handicapped was a valuable experience which encouraged me to be more grateful to my parents who raised me up to become what I am today. Built on today’s valuable experience, I dream to become a construction professional that can build buildings that truly reflect the needs of the handicapped.
Twenty-two new employees, out of 150 that are to be recruited in 2012 participated in the volunteering.
Even during the Asian financial crisis in the late 90’s, and the recent global financial crisis, SsangYong E&C kept hiring new employees through various ways, such as internships and formal and informal recruitment of college graduates and hired 748 new employees for the past 12 years in order to secure a workforce and to nurture global talent. SsangYong E&C also runs training programs for its new employees such as a Marine boot camp program and a volunteering program for Habitat for Humanity to strengthen the personal ability and work capability of its new workers so that they could better cooperate and harmonize with each other and develop a volunteer spirit.
