Let’s Prevent the New Influenza Together by Eating the Kimchi of Love!

Recently (Nov. 18), 13 employees of Ssangyong E&C (President & Chairman&CEO, Kim Byung-ho visited the Wonju Catholic Social Welfare Center located in Bongsan-dong, Wonju City, Gangwon Province to implement the company-sponsored volunteer activity of the ‘Kimchi of Love Event’.

The employees who participated in the volunteer activity made 1,500 sets of kimchi with the neighboring residents of the welfare community center and delivered some of the kimchi to the elderly living alone in the area. Additionally, there was a volunteer activity to distribute lunch to 100 homeless elderly living in the Wonju Catholic Social Welfare Center.

Mr. Kwon O-Joong, a new employee, who participated in the kimchi-making event said, “It was difficult because I have never made kimchi before, but I think it is very meaningful that I was able to participate in the volunteer activity with my seniors.” He noted, “Recently the Korea Food Research Institute announced that kimchi helps prevent the new influenza virus, and I hope the elderly enjoy a healthy winter by eating the kimchi we made today.”

Ssangyong E&C has continuously sponsored the social welfare agencies, including Wonju Catholic Social Welfare Center and Seongnam Anna’s House, through the company magazine and clubs since 2003.
