The construction site of Ssangyong Platinum in Dongtan currently underway (chief director and general manager, Lee Gi-heung) was awarded the grand prize at the 4th Construction Environment Management Competition for ‘Measures to Reduce Noise and Dust in Construction in Downtown Areas’ on November 7.

The ‘Measures to Reduce Noise and Dust in Construction in Downtown Areas’ as the prize-winning case were to minimize the damage resulting from noise and dust particulates from construction sites in central business districts. Currently, a total of five items are being used on site, including installation of sound-proof panels for external scaffolding, installation of dust and noise-resistant walls for entrances, and dust removal within sites using non-motorized dust collectors.

Meanwhile, the Construction Environment Management Competition has been held annually since 2004, co-organized by the Construction Association of Korea and the Society for Environmental Construction, and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Land, Transport & Maritime Affairs and Maekyung Safety & Environment Institute.
