Ssangyong E&C wins project to construct Taebaek-Miro 2-1 road

2007-02-16

A consortium, including Ssangyong E&C (Ssangyong holding a 20 percent stake, or KRW 19.1 billion ), on February 16 won a project to construct a Taebaek-Miro 2-1 road, which is hosted by the Public Supply Administration, for KRW 93.6 billion. Other members in the consortium include Dongbu Corporation and GS Engineering & Construction.

The project is the first large scale project with a budget of over KRW 100 billion, for which an order has been placed this year. It entails the construction of an 11.03 km-long road with two to four lanes linking Tong-dong, Taebeak with Neukgu-ri, Dogye-eup, in Gangwon Province, which includes eight bridges (874 meters), and two tunnels (2,732 meters). The project will last for 60 months after groundbreaking. Meanwhile, now that Ssangyong E&C has beat out rivals to win the first large-scale project open for bidding this year, it is expected to see good results in other bids for large-scale projects in the future.
