This is the first project to be sponsored by the Malaysian government, which has a plan to develop the remarkable natural environment of Langkawi into a global tourism hub comparable to internationally renowned marine tourist destinations such as Bali and Monaco.

The hotel, when completed, will be one of the top hotels in the country. In April 2015, it served as the official venue for the 2015 ASEAN SUMMIT+3 and provided accommodation for the heads of the ASEAN member states.
