Ssangyong wins construction excellence award in Singapore

SEOUL, May 27 (Yonhap) Ssangyong Engineering and Construction Co., one of South Korea's most competitive builders, said Tuesday it won a construction excellence award in Singapore.
The company won the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Award for its W Singapore Santosa Cove hotel. The hotel, built on Santosa Island, a popular resort that has such attractions as Universal Studios Singapore, also received the best ever 97 points from the country's Construction Quality Assessment System.
Ssangyong won the order for the hotel construction in 2009 and completed the work in late 2012.
The South Korean builder now has 23 BCA Awards, the most among local rivals.
Besides the excellence award, the hotel won the BCA's top eco-friendly platinum certification, the Universal Design Gold mark and was lauded for 4 million accident-free man-hours when it was being built.
