It became the most frequent winner among Korean builders by winning 19 times since the Raffles City project in 1987.
Ssangyong E&C (Chairman & CEO, Kim, S.Joon)announced that it had clinched two of the top tiers of the BCA Construction Productivity Awards for its construction methods used at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel project - Platinum for its innovation on structural stability for sloping RC structure work and Gold for its innovation on Restrain and Guide Cable System (RGCS) for access to overhanging and slanting gable end walls. The BCA Awards ceremony was held at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore on May 24, 2012.

The Platinum-awarded method of ‘structural stability for the sloping RC structure’ is a new post tensioning technology used to build a hotel with a maximum slope of 52 degrees. It minimized the use of supports by installing wires into bearing walls of the sloping structure and it reduced the construction time by 63 days and saved 61.5% on materials and 43.8% on labor.

The Gold-awarded ‘Restrain and Guide Cable System (RGCS)’ is a new construction method designed to carry out external architectural finishes to the slanting gable end wall of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel Tower. It fixes cables on the gable end wall for gondolas to glide along the surface.

Ssangyong E&C also received a ‘Star’ (top-tier) award in BCA Green and Gracious Builder Awards 2012. The award evaluates practices for environmental protection and safety control being taken at two construction sites(Marina Coastal Expressway, Down town Line Stage 2) in Singapore.

The BCA Construction Productivity Awards, the most prestigious building award in Singapore, recognizes builders or projects which achieved productivity improvements in 8 categories including design, construction, environmental protection and safety. It evaluates design, construction management, construction technology and environmental protection technology in all of the ongoing BCA construction projects or with its contractors.
