Moshe Safdie, world’s renowned architect is making his first visit to Korea!

He attracted attention by designing the resort complex in Singapore, another global landmark.
He has designed many landmarks based on his philosophy of embracing cultural diversity.
His work in his 20s was bestowed with cultural heritage status.
He is visiting Korea as he worked with his first Korean partner, Ssangyong E&C, on his previous project.

A world’s renowned architect who designed Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore, a masterpiece beyond imagination including technical capabilities of architecture, described as the “Leaning Tower of Pisa in the 21st century” and evaluated as the world’s best landmark, is coming to Korea for the first time.

Moshe Safdie, Marina Bay Sands hotel designer, is visiting Korea from May 10 to 13. Ssangyong E&C, a constructor of the hotel, is the first Korean partner that he has worked with.

On May 11, he will give a lecture on “Megascale, Order and Complexity” to the members of the Korea Institute of Registered Architects (KIRA) at the KIRA building in the southern part of Seoul.

Also, he will tour large-scale projects, meet with his business partners and visit royal palaces to experience Korea’s traditional architecture.

Moshe Safdie attracted global attention with Habitat 67, a housing complex and temporary residence for many dignitaries visiting the Expo in Montreal, Canada in 1967. Habitat 67 was bestowed historic monument status in 2009.

Another one of his masterpieces, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, which was constructed last year, became a new landmark in Singapore with its unique visual feature of a ship-like sky park on three buildings of the ‘入’-shaped hotel buildings.

Besides this, he designed the Canada National Gallery, Ottawa City Hall, United States Institute of Peace, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Rabin Memorial Center and the Khalsa Heritage Memorial in India.
