Ssangyong Engineering & Construction holds the 11th Technology Exchange Event

First held in 2000, despite the Asian Financial Crisis…that year, the Technology Exchange Event marks its 11th anniversary.
Ssangyong have continued to win large-scale overseas construction orders by strengthening its technological competitiveness.
After holding the event, 55 billion won in cost reduction and 16 patents have been achieved.

How did Ssangyong E&C gain the technology to construct Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Hotel, which is widely recognized as the world’s most difficult building to construct in the 21st century?

Recently (March 25), Ssangyong E&C (Chairman & CEO, Mr. Kim, S.Joon) announced that the ‘2010 Ssangyong Construction Technology’, which is an internal technology exchange event, will be held at the Ssangyong Urban Regeneration Exhibition Hall located in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu.

The Ssangyong E&C’s Technology Exchange Event has started with the purpose of strengthening technological competitiveness through the development of new technology, new construction methods and internal technologies. Through this event, the differentiated technology that has been developed has reached a total of 914 cases. Also, 16 technology patents have been registered, including VE (Value Engineering), through improvements in the SPS top-down slab construction method submitted to this event, as well as the world’s first marine power transmission line construction method (three times) and the remodeling apartment Ssangyong Yega Classic’s underground elevator extension method (7 times). Besides these,, two technology patents have been registered, one new design for practical use and one new technology have been registered to date. These have resulted in a reduction of about 55 billion won in cost and about 11,030 days have been shaved off the construction period.

Meanwhile, on March 25, the 11th Technology Exchange Event was held at the Ssangyong Housing Exhibition Hall, in Songpa-gu. Around 200 guests were in attendance, including Ssangyong E&C’s Chairman & CEO, Mr. Kim, S.Joon, and other executives, employees, and contractors a total of 206 new technologies to be applied domestically and internationally were submitted at the event.
Among the new submitted technologies, 24 of them competed in the finals. The method for checking the vertical interior of a steel pile, the new anti-static construction method through a stable steel damper, and the application of a variable water flow through a cooling and heating source won the Best Award for civil engineering/construction/electric generation, respectively.
