Visited India as a member of the economic delegation organized by President Lee

On the sidelines of President Lee Myung-bak’s visit to India form January 25th to 26th, Chairman Kim also visited India as a member of the economic delegation.
President Lee’s visit to India was conducted in an effort to raise a long-term bilateral
relationship one notch and to strengthen its ties with India which is home to 1.2
billion people. Chairman Kim was the only CEO of a Korean construction firm to participate in the Indian visit among 27 other people including the president of the
Federation of the Korean Industries and the heads of private and public firms and
Associations as well as SMEs.
At a breakfast meeting presided by President Lee on the 25th, Chairman Kim said “Ssangyong has competed or has been doing construction worth approximately 320 million dollars a year for the past 13 years since it made its headway into the Indian Market in 1997, and in that there are no other market leaders be it foreign or homegrown, the construction market of India has a lot of room for Korean construction firms to expand.”
He also added “The Indian construction market volume in 2009 was worth 230 billion US dollars 2.3 folds of that of Korea’s and for this year it is expected to grow by 10% compared to the previous year.”
Upon the completion of the breakfast meeting, Chairman Kim participated in the Korea-India Business forum with other 300 Korean and Indian entrepreneurs and attended the luncheon to exchange thoughts on common interests.
On the next day, Chairman Kim attended the 60th anniversary of Indian Independence with President Lee Myung-bak and other governmental delegates as “Guest of Honor”
Chairman Kim completed his visit to India as a member of the Economy Delegation by attending the ceremonial event.
