2008-05-22

Ssangyong Engineering and Construction Co. has been recently selected as a preferred bidder to renovate three Woosung apartment buildings in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-district, Seoul.

Once the renovations are completed, the space of 120 homes will increase to 96.58 square meters each from 70.97 square meters. 135 homes will increase to 116.79 square meters each from 88.11 square meters and another 150 homes will increase to 139.95 square meters each from 99.4 square meters. With new underground parking lots, the parking capacity will grow to 620 cars per building, or 4.3 units per home, from 144 cars, or 1.5 units per home.

Ssangyong Engineering plans to set up locker rooms for each household in the underground space. A patent-filed elevator extension technology by Ssangyong Engineering will allow elevators to be directly connected to underground parking lots from each home. On the ground, where parking lots are currently located, various theme parks will be built, including gardens for family gatherings, scenic walks and playgrounds for kids. All buildings will be built by a piloti construction method, by which a building is lifted above what is underneath. A community facility, which will house a fitness center, yoga, spa, multipurpose hall, book café, kids club and silver club, will also be built. Construction will start from the second-half of 2009, after administrative work and transfer of residents, and will be completed in 2011.
