Ssangyong Engineering wins order for water-circulation facility in Gwanggyo

2008-06-13

A consortium led by Ssangyong Engineering and Construction Co. received an order worth 59.2 billion won (US$56.7 million) on June 13 to build a water-circulation facility in Gwanggyo New City.

The contract, placed by the Gyeoggi Urban City Development Corp., calls for the consortium to build various water facilities at the new housing district in Gwanggyo. Facilities include a 7.2-kilometer-long water pipe for river maintenance, a 7.9-kilometer-long water supply pipe for emergency use, two concrete pumping houses, five water reservoirs and artificial web lands. Construction will take 36 months, including 12 months of trial operations.

The contract was the first order for Ssangyong Engineering this year in a turnkey-based civil engineering project. It is expected to positively affect Ssangyong’s brand awareness and its efforts to receive more orders in turnkey-based projects.
