Ssangyong Engineering wins order to build headquarters of Kibo

2008-04-22

A consortium led by Ssangyong Engineering and Construction Co. received an order worth 45 billion won (US$43.1 million) on April 22 to build the headquarter building of Kibo Technology Fund. Ssangyong Engineering has a 45 percent stake in the consortium or 18.4 billion won.

The order calls for the consortium to build a 15-story, 24,896-square-meter office and exhibition building for 30 months at a financial industry complex in Munhyeon-dong, Nam-district, Busan city. The contract is particularly meaningful because it was the first turnkey-order this year for Ssangyong Engineering and placed via a “fixed-price, best-design system,” which allowed construction companies to join the bidding with only their designs. In addition, the order is expected to help Ssangyong Engineering improve its corporate image in turnkey-based construction projects and raise its competitiveness in further orders.
