Ssangyong Engineering named as preferred bidder for sewage disposal plant

A consortium led by Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co. was chosen as a preferred bidder on April 8 to build a sewage disposal plant in Gulhwa and Gangdong towns of the Ulsan city.
The order, placed by the city of Ulsan, calls for a consortium to build the plant with a daily processing capacity of 47,000 cubic meters and three pump facilities in Gulhwa-ri, Beomseo-eup, Ulju-gun of Ulsan. In addition, another plant in Sanha-dong, Buk-gu of Ulsan will have a daily processing capacity of 5,000 cubic meters and 14 pump facilities.
The total value of the order was 93 billion won (US$93 million) and Ssangyong Engineering had a 20 percent stake of the construction, or 18.6 billion won.
Construction will start from October 2008 to March 2011. If selected, the consortium will manage the plants from April 2011 to March 2031.
This order would become Ssangyong Engineering’s first result in the field of environment-related construction sector. It would be meaningful because the selection laid groundwork for Ssangyong Engineering to win more orders in such projects.
