Ssangyong Engineering wins award from construction minister

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction won an award from the Minister of Construction and Transportation for its role in the nation’s construction industry at the 2007 Construction Cooperation Promotion Award.
Organized by the Association of Construction Outsourcing and the Construction Daily and sponsored by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and the Fair Trade Commission, the award helps a winner upgrade its corporate image.
Starting in April 2004, Ssangyong Engineering opened an Internet-based commerce site “e-root” at www.eroot.co.kr to eradicate corruption and bribery in awarding bids or procurement. In addition, Ssangyong Engineering established an enterprise resource planning system in November 2007, to manage a set of subcontractor-related projects, including procurement and use of equipment and workers in a transparent manner.
With the award, Ssangyong Engineering gained an upper hand in next year’s qualification test by the Office of Procurement and local governments.
Meanwhile, a total of 18 companies and five persons were awarded by the construction minister, the commerce minister and the FTC chairman.
