Ssangyong Engineering chosen as preferred bidder for project financing contract in Paju

A consortium led by Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co. was selected on Nov. 8 as a preferred bidder by Korea Housing Corp. to build a complex of homes and commercial districts on a project-financing basis in Unjeong, Paju city.
The contract calls for the consortium to build a 1,602-home apartment, commercial and culture facilities and a hotel in a 102,111-square-meter piece of land from April 2009 to March 2012. The project cost a total of 1 trillion won and Ssangyong Engineering owns a 16 percent stake or 160 billion won.
The project, aimed at building a landmark complex in the northwestern area of Seoul, is expected to play a greater role for the new city development project in Unjeong and the local economy.
