Ssangyong Engineering official receives awarded as expressway between Cheongwon and Sangju opens

2007-11-28

An expressway between Cheongwon and Sangju, built by Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co., was opened on Nov. 28.

About 800 government officials, provincial lawmakers and residents participated in the opening ceremony. The participants included Lee Yong-seop, the Minister of Construction and Transportation, Kim Kwang-yong, the governor of North Gyeongsang province and Namgung Sang, executive vice president of Ssangyong Engineering.

At the opening ceremony, Kim Seong-ho, a deputy general manager of Ssangyong Engineering was given the Industrial Medal for his work to build the expressway.

As one of supervisors for the highway construction project, Kim had contributed to Ssangyong Engineering by winning an award in June last year for achieving 1.4 million-hours of non-accident construction work. In addition, Kim received an award last February for quality construction.

Meanwhile, the new expressway shortened an existing route between Cheongwon and Sangju by 20 kilometers or 52 minutes. What’s more, it would save 230 billion won a year in logistics costs by sharing traffic with the Seoul-Busan expressway.
