Ssangyong-led consortium wins order to upgrade wastewater disposal plant in Daegu

2007-04-12

A consortium led by Ssangyong Engineering and Construction won an order worth 17.8 billion won on April 12 to upgrade a wastewater disposal plant at an industrial complex in Dalseong, Daegu city. Ssangyong owns a 50 percent stake, or 8.9 billion won, in the consortium.

The order, awarded by Environment Management Corp., calls for the Ssangyong-led consortium to repair or upgrade the aging wastewater disposal plant for 30 months. Once completed, the plant will process 25,000 tons of water a day.

In particular, Ssangyong received the order due to its next-generation sewage-processing technology, named KSMBR. Accordingly, the order is expected to give credit for Ssangyong in future projects on environment-related facilities.

After the KSMBR technology was recognized as a new environment technology in October 11, 2005, it has helped Ssangyong receive a total of 66 orders, or 43.6 billion won, by 2006. Ssangyong is expected to use the technology in future orders for restoring the environment in new city projects.
