World Expo 2020 Dubai, after been postponed for one year due to the COVID19 pandemic last year, will be opened to the public on October 1st.

Having finished with its preparations to showcase the technologies and culture of Korea, the Korea Pavilion was unveiled to local media in anticipation of the upcoming event.

Dubai correspondent Woo Su-gyeong has the report.

The harmony of the colors red, yellow, and blue create a set of beautiful images.

The façade of the Korea Pavilion, designed with the motif of a ‘flower blossoming in the middle of the desert’, commemorates the first-ever expo to be held in the Middle East.

About 1,600 spinning cubes were installed on the building’s exterior, in symbolic representation of the dynamic energy and vibes of the Korean people.

The Pavilion went public to the local media just a few days before the opening of the Dubai Expo planned for this Friday.

[Colin Foreman / Editor at MEED (Middle East Economic Digest): "I thought it was very interesting actually. It was good to have a look at the Pavilion before the Expo actually opens. I think it shows a broad range of what South Korea and its economy has to offer."]

The Dubai World Expo is divided into three sections that center around the three sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability. Located within the Mobility section, the Korea Pavilion will stand out as one of the key exhibits.

The Korea Pavilion will offer various experiences by implementing a combination of cutting-edge mobility technologies and mobile augmented realities.

One of the many characteristic features of the Korea Pavilion is its open architecture that allows for natural, rather than artificial, air ventilation.

With the aim of promoting the environmental sustainability of our planet, the Pavilion consumes less energy than any other exhibition pavilions.

In addition to the above, the Pavilion will hold K-pop concerts and B-boy performances to promote contemporary Korean culture.

[Ahn Yoo-seok / Head of the South Korea Pavilion: "I expect visitors to experience what dynamic Korea feels like as soon as they reach our pavilion. I believe that 1600 spinning cubes rotating at the building’s exterior, the internal setup of the architecture, and performances that combine K-pop will be able to convey the excitement and fun of Korean culture."]

The Korea Pavilion is the fifth largest construction edifice among all facilities built by the 191 participating nations.

For the next 6 months until March 2022, the Korea Pavilion will continue to promote the charm of Korea by showcasing mobility technologies with a diverse range of exhibits and performances.
