Ssangyong E&C Recognized as a ‘Best Workplace’ by the Dubai Government

Ssangyong E'C Wins Taqdeer Award for Excellence in Employee Welfare and Work Environment

Ssangyong E'C was ed by the Dubai government as one of the best companies to work for in the emirate. According to a construction industry report released on May 23, the company was awarded a prestigious 3-star rating (on a scale of 1 to 5) at the Taqdeer Awards.

 

The Taqdeer Awards, an initiative of the Dubai government, honors companies that serve as models for outstanding labor welfare, for example, by providing a hospitable work environment.

 

Under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Awards were launched in 2016 as part of efforts to motivate companies operating in Dubai to grow in their respective fields. The Taqdeer Awards' objectives include promoting the establishment of employee welfare programs, spreading a culture of excellence in labor affairs management, enhancing workers' quality of life and prosperity, and increasing overall labor productivity.

 

Companies eligible for the Award are those in the sectors of manufacturing, building ' construction, electrical-mechanical engineering, and professional services as well as those operating in free-trade zones. They must also have a valid license to operate in Dubai and a minimum of 100 employees on payroll while maintained operations for at least 24 months.

To be considered for entry, applicant companies must provide evidence of best employment practices in terms of recruitment and wages, facilities and infrastructure, labor security, key performance indicators, communication, and feedback. Based on this evidence, the judging committee assigns the company a rating on a scale of 1 to 5. Companies with a rating of 4 or 5 stars are given priority in the tender process for projects initiated by the Dubai government.

 

In the Dubai construction market, Ssangyong E'C has maintained a firm footing. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the world, Chairman and CEO S. Joon Kim made a point of visiting Dubai on a business trip at the end of last year, a clear sign of Dubai's importance as the company's primary overseas market. Currently, Ssangyong E'C is dedicated to the construction of the Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences, which features a maximum of 46 floors and 795 rooms.
